As someone who has spent forty years in psychology with a long-standing interest in evolution, I'll just assimilate Howard Bloom's accomplishment and my amazement.-DAVID SMILLIE, Visiting Professor of Zoology, Duke University In this extraordinary follow-up to the critically acclaimed The Lucifer Principle, Howard Bloom-one of today's preeminent thinkers-offers us a bold rewrite of the evolutionary saga. He shows how plants and animals (including humans) have evolved together as components of a worldwide learning machine. He describes the network of life on Earth as one that is, in fact, a ""complex adaptive system,"" a global brain in which each of us plays a sometimes conscious, sometimes unknowing role. and he reveals that the World Wide Web is just the latest step in the development of this brain. These are theories as important as they are radical. Informed by twenty years of interdisciplinary research, Bloom takes us on a spellbinding journey back to the big bang to let us see how its fires forged primordial sociality. As he brings us back via surprising routes, we see how our earliest bacterial ancestors built multitrillion-member research and development teams a full 3.5 billion years ago. We watch him unravel the previously unrecognized strands of interconnectedness woven by crowds of trilobites, hunting packs of dinosaurs, feathered flying lizards gathered in flocks, troops of baboons making communal decisions, and adventurous tribes of protohumans spreading across continents but still linked by primitive forms of information networking. We soon find ourselves reconsidering our place in the world. Along the way, Bloom offers us exhilarating insights into the strange tricks of body and mind that have organized a variety of life forms: spiny lobsters, which, during the Paleozoic age, participated in communal marching rituals; and bees, which, during the age of dinosaurs, conducted collective brainwork. This fascinating tour continues on to the sometimes brutal subculture wars that have spurred the growth of human civilization since the Stone Age. Bloom shows us how culture shapes our infant brains, immersing us in a matrix of truth and mass delusion that we think of as reality.Global Brain is more than just a brilliantly original contribution to the ongoing debate on the inner workings of evolution. It is a ""grand vision,"" says the eminent evolutionary biologist David Sloan Wilson, a work that transforms our very view of who we are and why.

Fun for a few minutes but beware!
Color: Blue&Purple&Orange, Color: Blue&Purple&Orange
I have 3 dogs so looking for multipacks of the same style toy is great so there is less squabbling between who gets what toy.
I have a border collie puppy, a 4 yr old Irish wolfhound cross and a 17 yr old border collie. These toys were loved by each one of my dogs.
The toys are floppy and easy to squeak in the octopus head. So much so that my elderly boy could happily play and make it squeak. He even collected the toys up and took them to his bed!
My puppy ran off bounding through the house squeaking the octopus' head with the tentacle-legs flying everywhere as she ran around, so the entertainment value is pretty high!
My Irish wolfhound loved the crinkling on the tentacles of the octopus and went straight for tearing into the orange toy pulling out the plastic, then pulling out the squeaker. The toy did ok with a game of tuggy (tug-o-war) with him and this toy would have been a great reward during a training session.
The fabric is not very tough so this is not a toy for aggressive chewers. Legs were easily chewed off and unfortunately were ingested by one of my dogs which caused them to vomit repeatedly throughout the night. Same with the squeaker, they are thin, soft plastic. So if your dog is a voracious chewer, give these a miss.
What I liked about these toys:
1. They were reasonably priced for 3 toys
2. These are not small toys! They are great for medium and large dogs.
3. Very fun for the dogs to play with.
4. No stuffing to clean up
What I didn't like:
1. Toys are not durable for tough tuggers.
2. The toys are not reinforced for chewing.
3. Squeaker not strong enough.
The toys just didn't last. There was maybe 15 minutes of play time at most before the chewing and destruction of the toys really got started.
I might buy these again if I can give my puppy better supervision for her chewing these and trying to stop her from ingesting the pieces she is chewing off put I probably won't buy them again. There's too much plastic that can be eaten with the crinkly plastic in the legs.

My puppy's favorite toy
Color: Blue
I have an 9 month old lab. He LOVES these!! By far one of his favorite toys! Since he is a puppy they do not last crazy long. Usually a few weeks, but well worth it. They keep him occupied.. and gives me a 20+ min of fee time!!

Best toy ever
Color: Blue&Purple, Color: Blue&Purple
I have been through many many toys with my 4yo GWP. And she is not gentle with her toys. Normally a plush toy will last about a week before all stuffing is brutally removed and the squeaker is so worn out it resembles a limp noodle. Somehow, this toy has survived the last 3 months- squeaker still squeaking, no holes in the fabric, better yet there’s not stuffing to litter all over my floor for the vacuum to get stuck on! She loves this thing, she flings it around, tugs on it, catches it midair, loses it and finds it. Honestly 10/10. I wish I could buy stock in this toy.

Color: Blue&Purple
These are such a great value and my little dogs ADORE them! So far they aren’t chewed up, and they are super cute! They definitely love playing with them and I appreciate there not being stuffing all over. They love the crinkly legs and squeaker in the head.
