It features an intricate hand-beaded design, rendered bead by bead and sequin by sequin by skilled artisans in India.
Completed in 1929, the Spanish Colonial Revival landmark serves both as an active courthouse and one of the most visited historic attractions in Santa Barbara. Its distinctive four-faced clock tower, red tile roofs, elegant arches, and verdant sunken gardens make it one of the most photographed buildings on the California coast - and a beloved symbol of the city's devotion to beauty and craft. The Courthouse has been a National Historic Landmark since 2005.
The ornament is crafted by Matr Boomie, a fair trade company whose artisan partners have been handcrafting goods for generations. In the urban center of Old Delhi, artisans delicately bend, etch, bead, and polish pieces from stones, glass, upcycled metal and wires, seeds, and other materials.
