Experience flexible, long-distance DVI distribution with the Gefen EXT-DVIKA-HBT2. Built on the HDBaseT 2.0 Colligo platform, this KVM extender delivers pristine DVI video, USB, two-way audio, and RS-232 control over a single CAT-5e cable, extending reach up to 495 feet (150 meters). Ideal for conference rooms, classrooms, and digital signage, it combines ease of use with robust performance for reliable A/V distribution and remote device control. Designed for quick setup in existing networks, the system preserves image quality, audio clarity, and responsive control across substantial cable runs, enabling seamless collaboration and streamlined management of peripherals and displays.

  • Extends DVI signals over a single CAT-5e cable up to 495 feet (150 meters) using Gefen's HDBaseT 2.0 technology. This single-cable approach reduces clutter and cost while delivering reliable high-definition video integrity across long distances. The transmitter and receiver pair are optimized for low jitter and stable performance in commercial environments, ensuring consistent color accuracy and sharp detail from source to screen in conference rooms, classrooms, and showroom settings.
  • HDBaseT 2.0 Colligo platform adds USB and 2-way audio extension, plus RS-232 pass-through, enabling full KVM operation from a remote workstation. You can connect USB keyboards, mice, and peripherals at the display end and control the host computer remotely. The two-way audio path supports microphone input and line-level audio to and from sources, while RS-232 offers straightforward control of linked displays, projectors, and other AV devices from the remote location.
  • KVM-ready design supports remote keyboard and mouse control with plug-and-play convenience. The extender preserves native USB performance with minimal latency, allowing smooth operation of software, presentations, and peripheral devices. It maintains robust EDID handling to keep display behavior consistent across cables, making it suitable for busy environments where reliability and ease of use are paramount.
  • Single-cable installation with a compact transmitter and receiver pair delivers dependable performance across long runs while maintaining low latency for time-sensitive applications. The kit includes power adapters for both ends, enabling straightforward mounting near displays, media players, or wall installations. Built with durable construction and shielded cabling, it withstands the rigors of commercial AV deployments and reduces downtime.
  • Versatile compatibility and control options, including RS-232 integration for external device control and simple deployment within existing AV infrastructures. The RS-232 channel enables control of projectors, displays, or other equipment from the host location or centralized control systems. Designed to scale with Gefen’s HDBaseT ecosystem, it supports growing multi-room or multi-zone configurations for education, corporate, and retail environments.

How to install Gefen DVI KVM HDBaseT 2.0 Extender

To install, connect the DVI source to the transmitter (TX) and the DVI display to the receiver (RX). Run a single CAT-5e cable between TX and RX, ensuring the cable is within the supported distance for HDBaseT 2.0. Attach USB devices (keyboard, mouse, or peripherals) at the TX or RX ends as needed, and connect the RS-232 line if you require external device control. Apply power to both the TX and RX units using the supplied adapters, then power on the source and display. Verify EDID negotiation and test the KVM connection by moving the cursor between local and remote workstations, adjusting audio, and sending commands through RS-232 to confirm remote control functionality. For best results, keep runs clear of excessive interference and use shielded CAT-5e cables rated for AV applications.

Frequently asked questions

Came with low ink!
Model: 500N BNDL
Will edit! - currently just opened the machine to get it set up and the machine says ink is low, all ink is low. When I used the Amazon trouble shoot chat all it did was say sorry and gave me a link to return. I just want this machine to work with there to be ink! It’s not like this was cheap, the ink that comes with should work and not be empty.

Works Beautifully
Model: 500N BNDL
I looked up videos on YouTube to get tips on using this as I'm a visual learner. I love using my Cricut and making tumblers, and as someone familiar with crafting, it felt second nature using this. Everything worked smoothly and nothing seemed out of place. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but if you're crafty, you'll settle in quickly. The print quality is fantastic, easily higher quality than my inkjet printer. The included “starter ink” gets you going, and replacements are easy to get online. You use the ink they provide which lasts a long time. The results speak for themselves, sharp, vivid, and professional looking prints every time. Definite recommend from me!

Way too expensive, but good quality. Monopolies do that.
Model: 500N BNDL
Makes great prints but is twice the cost of what it should be and the ink is ridiculously expensive. The "starter ink" that is included will prime the lines, but will immediately show you a "low ink" warning. So be prepared to almost immediately spend another $350 on ink. If you use unauthorized ink Sawgrass will lock up your printer and make it unusable. That monopoly is how they can charge so much. Cost is the downside by a longshot. Also - having to use their "Print Manager" slows down production by adding several extra steps after pressing print. Making our shop less efficient. That being said - the quality of the prints we get with Sawgrass is superior to other printers for sublimation.

Changed for the worse
Model: 500N BNDL
I have used my sawgrass SG500’s and an SG1000 for over 10 years with great success and made around 250,000 mugs and ornaments. As you can see, all the 1 star reviews are from this year for good reason. I wish I had read them before I bought a new 500 model. All my prints are now grainy. I have spent days online and it is normal with the new Print Utility and it seems to be the same for everyone in the last few months. I have been unable to find a fix and customer service is useless. It takes days of chat and emails to have what would be a 15 minute conversation. I don’t want to go through the hassle of learning a new system but unless I can get my issues solved in the next few days, I will. The actual printing is faster but it takes several minutes per print to set up. I have to spend about 4-5 times as long to set up a print as I did with the old Print Manager. Instead of spending a half hour to print my art each day, I have to spend at least 2 hours and I get a lower quality print. Unless they can get me set up to use Print Manager again instead of the new Print Utility, I’m getting a different printer.

Not enough ink
Model: 500N BNDL
Printer is good quality but barely has enough ink to fill lines. With a printer of this cost you would think you would get a full tank of ink. Especially since replacement ink is over 300 dollars
