In *Letters to Young Sportsmen on Hunting, Angling, and Shooting*, Lieutenant-Colonel J. Mackillop and his co-authors provide an insightful guide for those passionate about country sports. Originally published in 1920, this classic work covers a range of outdoor pursuits, with sections on hunting by J. Mackillop, angling by Horace G. Hutchinson, and shooting by the Hon. Douglas Cairns. Through detailed letters, the authors share advice and personal anecdotes aimed at young enthusiasts, offering practical tips for success and enjoyment in the field.

The book opens with Mackillop’s section on hunting, delivering guidance to those new to the sport. From choosing the right horse, conditioning it, to understanding the etiquette of the hunt, Mackillop’s instructions are aimed at fostering the skills and mindset necessary for becoming a proficient rider. His focus on proper horsemanship and safety, as well as respect for the hounds, makes this section particularly valuable for budding foxhunters.

Hutchinson’s contribution on angling shifts the focus to fishing, with instructions on mastering the art of fly casting, understanding fish behavior, and preparing the right equipment for different conditions. Hutchinson’s letters exude a deep respect for the quiet, contemplative joy that fishing offers, while still being highly practical for those starting out in the sport.

Lastly, Cairns’ letters delve into the world of shooting, covering essential topics like safety, gun handling, and training dogs for the field. His guidance helps new sportsmen navigate driven shoots, manage relationships with fellow hunters, and appreciate the heritage and responsibility of responsible shooting.

Ends in a cliffhanger
Format: Kindle
Thankfully, the next book is already available. Roxy Collins is the queen of omegaverse slow burn. This particular series is omegaverse with wolf shifters. Thoroughly enjoyed this book! Lots of suspense and trying to figure out what is true and what's really going on. I loved it! Pretty spicy once the action starts. Heats are pretty much always spicy. There is a little bit of male interaction, but not full-on shmex. Definitely recommend.

Epic!!!!
Format: Kindle
Absolutely addicted from the first page. The twists and turns, world building and character development all come together for the perfect Omegaverse. And let's not forget that spice because knots are life and these are spectacular. Running for book #2 because that cliffhanger was torturous.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.

Slightly repetitive but I did love some things
Format: Kindle
I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.
