Copper itself is an excellent conductive material, and its conductivity remains excellent even when made into nanowires. However, due to factors such as nanoscale and surface effects, the conductivity of copper nanowires may differ from that of macroscopic bulk copper. For example, surface oxidation or impurity adsorption may reduce its conductivity to some extent, but under appropriate preparation and processing conditions, copper nanowires can still maintain high conductivity, making them widely applicable in fields such as electronic devices.

The resistance of copper nanowires changes with their size and temperature. At the nanoscale, quantum effects may have an impact on resistance. For example, when the diameter of copper nanowires decreases to a certain extent, quantum confinement effect occurs, leading to an increase in resistance. Copper nanowires exhibit different mechanical properties from macroscopic copper materials. Due to the size effect at the nanoscale, copper nanowires have high strength and hardness. For example, it can withstand high stress without significant deformation or fracture, which gives it an advantage as a reinforcing phase in composite materials.

Its good flexibility is also an important mechanical characteristic. Copper nanowires can bend and twist to a certain extent without damaging their structure and properties, which is crucial for the preparation of flexible electronic devices and other applications. For example, in wearable electronic devices, copper nanowires can adapt to the bending and deformation of the device while maintaining good conductivity.
