It features a 50mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/2, balancing light-gathering capability with controlled depth of field. The optical construction consists of 7 elements in 6 groups, optimized to deliver high contrast and consistent sharpness across the frame.
The lens incorporates Carl Zeiss T* multi-coating, effectively reducing flare and internal reflections while maintaining strong color fidelity and micro-contrast. A 9-blade diaphragm produces smooth and well-defined out-of-focus transitions. Manual focus operation with a long, precise focus throw allows accurate focus control, particularly suited for still photography and video work. The all-metal mechanical construction ensures stable optical alignment and long-term durability, making the Distagon 50mm T* suitable for demanding professional workflows.
