Westcott theC47 DP Kit

A versatile light modification kit designed for multiple purposes and portability, Westcott's theC47 DP Kit includes the framework to construct a 4 x 4' Scrim Jim Cine frame, a vise grip for mounting, and three fabrics to block, flag, diffuse, and bounce various light sources. Created in collaboration with Jem Schofield, founder of the popular filmmaking educational site, theC47, this kit is designed for run-and-gun filmmakers and other on-the-go cinematographers as a portable, yet customizable light control setup.

The included 22"-long Scrim Jim Cine frame tubes, along with straight and 2D corner connectors, are used to construct a rigid 4 x 4' frame panel for attaching the included fabrics via hook-and-loop fasteners. Each of the frame tubes incorporate 3/8"-16 mounts for attaching to stands, and the included center jaw vise grip also permits a versatile range of mounting options. For blocking and flagging light, the 4 x 8' floppy cutter fabric is included, which can be folded and secured for use as a 4 x 4' opaque, matte black flag. A full-stop diffusion fabric can be used to soften both ambient and artificial light sources and a reversible silver/white bounce fabric can also be used to re-direct and diffuse various light types. Additionally, a dedicated DP travel case is also included for protecting the kit contents during travel and storage. All combined, this kit is a portable and versatile solution for modifying and controlling light.

• Scrim Jim Cine Frame Tube (22")

  The integral component within a modular system, this 22" long Scrim Jim Cine Frame Tube from Westcott is used to construct customized panels in sizes ranging from 1 x 1' to 8 x 8'. When paired with optional fabrics, such as silks or diffusers, frame tubes form the rigid support from which fabrics are attached to create flags, diffusion panels, book lights, v-flats, or numerous other light controlling tools.
  
  This tube is constructed from anodized aluminum alloy and heavy-duty hook-and-loop tape is riveted to two sides of the tube for attaching fabrics. A 3/8"-16 threaded mount is incorporated into the tube for mounting atop stands and additional dedicated self-locking connectors are used to combine several pieces of tube to create flat 2D frames or dynamic 3D light shaping tools.

  Tube measures 22" long and can be added to additional tubes through the use of dedicated, self-locking connectors.

  Anodized aluminum alloy construction and self-locking connectors both help to maintain rigid, reliable frame configurations in various sizes up to 8 x 8'.

  Hook-and-loop tape is riveted onto two sides of the tube and is used for attaching a variety of fabric types to the frame system.

  A 3/8"-16 mount is incorporated into the tube's design for mounting to stands or other accessories.

  A versatile tool for controlling, directing, and blocking light, the Scrim Jim Cine Floppy Cutter Fabric from Westcott is compatible with 4 x 4' Scrim Jim Cine frames and features a double-layered construction that unfolds to an overall 4 x 8' size. A heavy-duty touch fastener allows for quick setup and installation with the frame, and also allows you to secure the loose fabric when using as a 4 x 4' flag. The opaque, nearly reflection-free black surface can be used to block ambient light in order to create shadows on your scene or subject. It is also suitable for flagging artificial lighting, preventing light spill, and can be used as a barndoor for larger light sources.

Constructed from nylon and silk fabrics, this diffusion does not affect the color temperature of light sources and helps to maintain natural-looking skin tones. As part of a modular system, this fabric is an ideal light control tool for a variety of both studio and on-location applications.

  This plain diffuser cloth is suitable for both artificial and ambient light sources and is ideal for overhead use, to soften harsh sunlight, or to place in front of a main light source for broad diffusion.

This reversible fabric has both bright, cool silver and neutral white reflective sides, allowing you to quickly switch between applications.
